Fast and improved turnaround times with the new automatic point to point care system, for transportation of blood samples!
Today, we see a new trend in the transportation of blood samples. Why? Because there is an urgent need for reducing the total turnaround time for blood samples. The new transport system is based on the 'First in, First out' principle and uses a dedicated pipeline to transfer blood samples directly from the ward to the laboratory.
By using a dedicated pipeline, the blood samples arrive in the laboratory within a few seconds. In a fully automated laboratory the samples are landed in a bulk loader or sorter or they are placed automatically directly on the track. Alternatively, the specimens arrive in a manual tray and are picked up by the staff.
The streamlined transportation of samples ensures predictable and faster turnaround times. This way hospitals can commence patient treatment earlier and discharge ambulatory patients more efficiently.
Different hospitals are using various methods of transporting blood samples, e.g. the samples are carried manually or transferred to the laboratory by traditional tube systems. This slow down the delivery time and there is a potential risk of losing samples.
With a dedicated pipeline the specimens are transferred directly from A to B and, the transportation time is predictable and much faster. Furthermore, the samples cannot disappear in a closed system. The solution is called Tempus600. It uses a pipeline with a diameter of 25mm, which is easily installed both in existing and new buildings within two weeks.
Through Tempus600, the hospitals can reduce the turnaround time for blood samples and commence patient treatment earlier or discharge ambulatory patients more efficiently.
