The Regional Hospital of Horsens will start using its new laboratory on 30 April 2024. The laboratory has been established with a new, fully automated conveyor belt solution connected to a new Tempus600® solution.
The laboratory has been relocated from the old buildings, dating from the 1970s, to the property’s newest building situated next to entrance A. At the same time, the department has just moved into new facilities for taking blood samples.
The Tempus600® sending station is installed in the new sample-taking unit and automatises the flow of samples between the unit and the lab.
Completed ahead of time through smooth, efficient cooperation
The construction of the new laboratory tells the story of a successful building project completed ahead of time. It the result of smooth, efficient cooperation between the parties involved in the project.
Based on the design process and lessons learned by other laboratories, the users had a heartfelt wish to have a Tempus600® installed between the new sample-taking unit and the new lab. The department has been very pleased by having this wish accommodated.
The unique feature of the new, fully automated laboratory belt solution is that the hospital’s conventional pneumatic transport system and Tempus600® both supply small clinical samples directly to the bulk-loader input module.
“So far, these three systems have been perfectly installed and integrated in a brilliant cooperative effort by everyone involved. We’ve all pulled in the same direction and helped find good solutions,” states Tim Krøyer, Project Manager, Construction Department, Horsens Hospital.
Automated processes improve the working environment
Else Marie Vestergaard, Medical Director, and Helene Bundgaard, Senior Laboratory Technologist, both of the Blood Samples and Biochemistry Department, are pleased that the laboratory technologists will soon be able to press a button, deposit a handful of samples in the drawer of the Tempus600® Quantit, and continue working, well aware that the samples will be received in the lab a few seconds later and automatically continue their journey on the analysis belt.
“The reason that we were so keen on having the Tempus600® solution is because of how it streamlines the process of transporting many blood samples from the sample-taking unit to the lab. The operating time is short, the system benefits the working environment, and it helps the hospital maintain a short response time for analysis results. This means that we can free up time for other tasks,” states Helene Bundgaard, Senior Laboratory Technologist.
