Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand
Siriraj Hospital is the oldest and largest hospital in Thailand. Located in Bangkok, it is the primary teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. With a capacity of more than 2,000 beds and more than one million outpatient visits per year, Siriraj is one of the largest and busiest medical centers in Southeast Asia. Thanks to its excellent reputation, its tertiary care unit is the referral center for all hospitals in Thailand.
In 2013, Siriraj Hospital was the first hospital in Asia to implement the Tempus600 system; a dedicated line going from each ward, where the Tempus600 sending station is located, directly to the laboratory. There is no risk of the samples going to the wrong destination.
Everyday, more than 2,000 clinical samples, predominantly blood samples, are sent to the Laboratory using Tempus600 system. After the implementation of Tempus600 system, reliability and maintenance has been very favorable.
TEMPUS600 system has proven to reduce the Total Turn-around-Time. After drawing the blood samples from the patient, specimens are dispatched by Tempus600 sending station to the Laboratory for analysis. Accordingly, the test report is sent to the physician and the patient released. Initial TAT was around 2 hours or more and with Tempus600 solution, TAT is reduced to less than 1 hour.
“Tempus600 brings the samples directly from the blood collection to the central lab without any risk of delay, crashes or mistaken deliveries. It’s like having the lab next to the patient.” says the Laboratory Manager.
In the 4th Quarter of 2017, 2 additional Tempus600 systems were installed. The Laboratory Management expects the expansion of the Tempus600 network to further assist other blood collection departments, by improving the work flow, release more resources and achieve the LEAN goals.
