Top 10 most frequently asked questions about sample tubes

We are often asked which sample tubes are compatible with Tempus600. In this article we will answer the 10 most common questions.

Which sample tube dimensions are right for the Tempus600 system?

Tempus600 is compatible with all sample tubes from lengths of 80–110 mm and diameters of 12–18 mm.

Can we send both glass and plastic tubes in a Tempus600 system?

Only sample tubes made of plastic should be sent through a Tempus600 system.

We recommend that glass sample tubes are not used in Tempus600 systems.

How do we know if the hospitals sample tubes fit the Tempus600 system?

If the hospitals sample tubes are already registered and approved on the Tempus600 sample tube list, they can be sent in the Tempus600 system.

What is the Tempus600 sample tube list?

It is a list of samples tubes that are approved or rejected by Timedico A/S for use in Tempus600 systems.

How are the sample tubes validated?

Before sending the sample tubes with the Tempus600 system, the sample tubes used in the hospital are tested and approved or rejected by our Support & Quality department. Approved and rejected samples tubes are registered on the Tempus600 sample tube list.

Can we start using the Tempus600 system right after the installation?

Timedico must first commission and approve the Tempus600 system by carrying out a Site Acceptance Test. After approval, the system is ready for use.

What is the speed of the sample tubes that are transferred via the Tempus600 solution?

At the Site Acceptance Test, Timedico will adjust the speed of the sample tubes with respect to each unique sample tube, the distance between the ward and the laboratory and the length and installation of the pipeline. The speed is typically set to 7-10 m/s.

How many sample tubes can we send per hour?

The number of sample tubes that can be sent with Tempus600 systems depends on the type of the actual Tempus600 system installed, the pipeline installation (sending up, distance, corners etc.), and if a separator module is mounted on the receiving unit.

Will the samples be affected when arriving in the laboratory equipment?

No. The samples are not affected when they arrive in the receiving end.

Can a sample tube get stuck in the pipeline?

No. The system is built in a way that prevents tubes from becoming stuck.
